Derby’s difficult week ends with a victory over Hull

A tough week for Derby ended on a winning note when Matt Clarke’s first goal for the club was enough to beat Hull 1-0 at Pride Park.

Clarke headed in a second-half corner to settle a game low on quality and the centre-half also made a crucial block to deny Herbie Kane an equaliser.

There was a vital block at the other end in the 80th minute when Bogle whipped in a low cross but Waghorn’s shot was charged down and when Hull tried to counter, Martin Samuelsen fired wildly over.

FourFourTwo was launched in 1994 on the back of a World Cup that England hadn’t even qualified for. It was an act of madness… but it somehow worked out. Our mission is to offer our intelligent, international audience access to the game’s biggest names, insightful analysis... and a bit of a giggle. We unashamedly love this game and we hope that our coverage reflects that.
