Is Matheus Cunha injured? Injury latest on the Manchester United forward
The attacker was ruled out of Manchester United’s last Premier League match with a hip issue
Manchester United could be without Matheus Cunha for a second successive Premier League game, after he was ruled out of their previous match with a hip flexor issue.
Matheus Cunha may be a last minute decision for Manchester United interim boss Michael Carrick as the club prepares for its biggest remaining game against rivals and fourth-placed Liverpool.
Michael Carrick’s side have soared this season in comparison to their torrid 2024/25 campaign, but their third-placed Premier League position this year is under threat as Liverpool look to leapfrog them this weekend.

The Brazilian, who traded in Wolves for Manchester United last year in a deal worth £62.5 million, was ruled out shortly before the Red Devils’ latest Premier League clash, with manager Michael Carrick commenting on his injury.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of kick-off, Carrick said: ‘[Cunha] had a bit of a sore hip flexor after the Chelsea game. He was looking promising during the week… but he just didn’t recover quick enough.
‘We thought he might have been OK… it’s nothing too serious but, unfortunately, he doesn’t make it [against Brentford],’ he continued.

Matheus Cunha has registered 12 goal involvements in the Premier League for Manchester United in 30 appearances - a slight decline in his numbers from last season.
The Brazilian had an imperious 2024/25 campaign for Wolves that saw him bag 15 goals and provide six assists in 33 Premier League games for the club - who were recently relegated from the top-flight largely due to a lack of goals.
Cunha has proven himself a giant slayer this season for the Red Devils, notably scoring a stunning 87th minute winner against current league leaders Arsenal at the Emirates.
If the 26-year-old is to miss out on playing against Liverpool, he will join a potentially sidelined Mohamed Salah, currently battling a hamstring injury.
He would also likely join Luke Shaw, who hobbled off the pitch against Brentford on Monday with an injury of currently unknown description and severity.
Manchester United take on Arne Slot’s Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, with both sides looking to secure Champions League qualification.
