Turkey v Italy live stream, BBC, Friday 11 June, 8pm BST

Euro 2020 will finally get under way when Turkey take on Italy in the opening game of the tournament on Friday.

The Stadio Olimpico in Rome will host the curtain-raiser, potentially handing Italy an advantage. The Azzurri missed out on the 2018 World Cup and are desperate to return to the international stage with a bang this summer. They qualified in style, brushing all-comers aside as they won all 10 of their matches - a record that only Belgium could equal.

Roberto Mancini has done an excellent job of modernising the side since taking charge three years ago. A midfield trio of Jorginho, Marco Verratti and Nicolo Barella is as technically proficient as any the tournament has to offer.

Italy will look to dominate possession, press high up the pitch and build up play from the back. There is a vibrancy to this team that was lacking during the doomed qualification campaign for the 2018 World Cup.

There are still some doubts, though. Ciro Immobile has posted superb goalscoring numbers with Lazio over the last two seasons, but he has not yet proved himself at international level. And while Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci are still excellent penalty-box defenders, their lack of pace could be exploited in a high defensive line.

Turkey have been tipped by many as potential underdogs at Euro 2020, although the national team has a tendency to perform in boom-or-bust cycles. They were hugely underwhelming at Euro 2016, but Senol Gunes has some talented players to call upon this time around.

Turkey are unlikely to concede too many goals with a solid defensive partnership of Merih Demiral and Caglar Soyuncu, while the evergreen Burak Yilmaz has just fired Lille to an unlikely Ligue 1 title. Turkey have a well-balanced midfield and will fancy their chances of picking up at least a point in this Group A opener.

Kick-off is at 8pm BST and the game is being shown on BBC One/BBC iPlayer. See below for watching details where you are.

Use a VPN to watch a Turkey v Italy live stream from outside your country

If you’re out of the country for any Euro 2020 fixtures, then annoyingly your domestic on-demand services won’t work – the broadcaster knows where you are because of your IP address (boo!). You'll be blocked from watching it, which is not ideal if you still want to catch Harry Kane's in-swinging corners without resorting to illegal feeds you’ve found on Reddit.

But assistance is on hand. To get around that, all you have to do is get a Virtual Private Network (VPN), assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs. A VPN creates a private connection between your device and t'internet, meaning the service can’t work out where you are and won't automatically block the service you've paid for. All the info going between is entirely encrypted – and that's a result.

There are plenty of good-value options out there, including:
