Croatia and Ghana will aim to book their place in the World Cup's Round of 32.

The World Cup's Group L is set to go down to the wire with Croatia and Ghana facing off in their final encounter as both nations can secure automatic progression.

A point will be enough for the Black Stars' first knockout stage appearance since 2010 while they could top the group if they better England's result against Panama.

But who will be the man in the middle for the encounter at Philadelphia Stadium?

Drew Fischer has been appointed referee for this all-important Group L clash after previously operating as a Video Assistant Referee for the 2022 World Cup.

The Canadian boasts experience of overseeing 324 games at a professional level with several prestige tournaments on the club and international stage among them.

He took charge of last year's MLS Cup final in addition to matches in the 2019 Women's World Cup, the CONCACAF Gold Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Operating predominantly in the MLS, Fischer has handed out 1,073 bookings, which averages out at just over three per game, and a combined 35 red cards.

The 45-year-old was slightly more restrained in his World Cup refereeing debut with just one yellow card issued during France's 3-0 win over Iraq in Group I.

Fischer was something of a trailblazer as one of only three Canadian referees to be elevated to FIFA's approved group of match officials upon his promotion in 2015.

Away from the pitch, Fischer obtained a physics from the University of Calgary.

He will be assisted by compatriots Micheal Barwegen and Lyes Arfa for the match while Mexican official Guillermo Pacheco has been assigned to VAR duties.

A Brazilian will serve as Pacheco's deputy with Rodolph Toski named as Assistant Video Assistant Referee for the all-important Philadelphia showdown.
