The consequences for both teams are huge, and a shock win for Wolves would see City fall to their third defeat in a row. City crashed to a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United last weekend, and then, last night, even worse, with an unthinkable Champions League defeat at the hands of Norwegian minnows Bodo/Glimt.

The 3-1 mauling also saw talismanic midfielder Rodri sent off, and had media commentators questioning Pep Guardiola's future in Manchester.

Wolves may be rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, but considering this, they are in reasonable form, bagging six points from their last four Premier League outings, and also an impressive 6-1 FA Cup win over Shrewsbury.

Last time out, Wolves drew 0-0 with mid-table Newcastle United, and with City seemingly struggling, especially in defence, Rob Edwards men arrive at the Etihad in confident mood, hoping to cause what would be a shock result. Mateus Mane is in good form for Wolves too, having scored in two of their last three Premier League games, and will be relishing a go at City's weakened back line.

However, a wounded City is a dangerous animal, and in their last meeting, City won 4-0 at Wolves with leading Premier League scorer Erling Haaland netting twice.
