TOKYO - Gamba Osaka's Brazilian striker Leandro has quit Japan to sign for Qatari side Al Sadd.
Leandro is the third Brazilian from Gamba to be snapped up by West Asian sides after Magno Alves in 2007 and Bare in 2008, the Asian Football Confederation reported on its website.
The 24-year-old moved from Brazil to Japan's Omiya Ardijain 2005 and also turned out for Montedio Yamagata and Vissel Kobe before joining Gamba.
Leandro is the leading goalscorer with 10 goals in the AFC Champions League where Gamba, who won the continental title last year, lost to Kawasaki Frontale in the Round of 16.
The striker scored 11 goals in 21 matches for Gamba in the J.League.
