MADRID - Racing Santander teenager Sergio Canales is surprised at the media attention he has attracted since scoring twice in Saturday's 2-1 La Liga win at Sevilla, leading to reports linking him with moves to Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The 18-year-old midfielder showed remarkable poise to bamboozle experienced goalkeeper Andres Palop twice in one-on-one situations, first with a lob and then by rounding him with ease for the second.
Canales's photogenic face has been plastered on the front pages of the sports newspapers who have been full of speculation about interest from clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal.
"I'm relaxed but a little surprised (by the attention)," he told reporters.
"At present my preference is to stay at Racing. They are the ones who gave me my debut and minutes in La Liga ... I'm flattered by all the offers."
Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have been tipped to make a move for the teenage talent following his rapid rise to promience in La Liga.
While Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is on the lookout for a front-man after losing Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner through injury, with Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin operating as a makeshift forward as a result.
Arsenal have been linked with a string of strikers, including Marouane Chamakh, Carlton Cole, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Bolivian youngster Samuel Galindo.comments
