Dan Jackson

A historian and writer, Dan Jackson is the author of the bestselling The Northumbrians, a Sunday Times Book of the Year in 2019, and Howay the Lads: A People’s History of Newcastle United. He holds a PhD in British history and has written for the New Statesman, Guardian, Prospect, History Today and UnHerd. He is a regular guest on The Rest Is History and has appeared on the BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? and Radio 4’s Start the Week. Alongside his writing, he is a director in the North East NHS and is also a trustee of Beamish Museum, named UK Museum of the Year in 2025.
