England have matched their best-ever goals tally at a World Cup by scoring three against Senegal in their last-16 game on Sunday night.

Following a slow start, Gareth Southgate's side scored twice in the last 10 minutes of the first half through Jordan Henderson and Harry Kane, before Bukayo Saka made it 3-0 early in the second period.

That took England's tally to 12 at Qatar 2022, which matches the 12 netted by Southgate's side en route to the semi-finals in Russia four years ago.

In that tournament, the Three Lions netted 12 times but conceded eight. This time, England have scored 12 but let in only two so far – both of those in the 6-2 win over Iran.

Before Russia 2018, England's best return in a World Cup was their 11 en route to the trophy in 1966.

In total, the Three Lions now have 103 World Cup goals, with Marcus Rashford having hit their 100th in the 3-0 win over Wales last week.

Next up for England at Qatar 2022 will be a meeting with defending champions France in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
