Manchester United are reportedly planning an official offer for a Bundesliga ‘assist machine’ valued at €40 million, as part of their rebuild this summer.

Manchester United are rebuilding their defence and looking for an expanded personnel list in the full-back position, and have identified the Bundesliga man as a solution to their issues.

The Red Devils are shooting for a third-placed Premier League finish under Michael Carrick, a significant improvement upon last season’s 15th-placed and Europa League final-losing side.

According to a report from Fussball Daten, Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Ryerson has emerged on the Red Devils’ radar.

The Norwegian, described by the German media outlet as an ‘assist machine’, has recorded 13 assists in the Bundesliga this season, and 16 in all competitions.

That total has brought him to joint-second in the Bundesliga assist charts, tied with Luis Diaz and behind Michael Olise on 18 - one of the world’s best players since trading in Crystal Palace for Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old Ryerson has created the third most Big Chances in the Bundesliga, with 19 in 28 league appearances, and has tallied the second most goal involvements for Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian has predominantly featured as a right winger this season but is a natural full-back, providing both crossing ability and discipline from the flank.

Manchester United are expected to make an official offer for Ryerson in the summer, noting that his versatility makes him an ideal player to join the ranks of Michael Carrick’s men.

The Red Devils have been linked with a wide variety of players ahead of a major squad rebuild this summer, focusing also on its centre-of-the-park options.

Michael Carrick’s men will also battle to see Benfica’s Richard Rios join their ranks ahead of next season, with FourFourTwo’s two-minute scout report identifying him as Europe’s next complete midfielder.
