Bendtner hits back at Zlat attack

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has hit back at comments from Inter Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic criticising Arsene Wenger's transfer policy. The Emirates Stadium side endured another frustrating season in 2008/09, with the Gunners now having gone four campaigns without picking up a trophy since their 2005 FA Cup triumph at the Millennium Stadium. Media pundits, fans and former Arsenal players alike have pleaded with the Frenchman to sign several experienced heads this summer to compliment his armoury of talented youngsters. And Swedish marksman Ibrahimovic - who ended the season as top-scorer in Serie A and reportedly came close to joining Arsenal in 2001 - said he felt sorry for the Gunners' faithful having to consistently watch a young, unproven team. “Just look at Arsenal. They don’t buy the best players, which is sad, very sad for their supporters," he told Aftonbladet. "They pay a lot of money for a season ticket just to see a junior team. That can't be fun.” However, Bendtner, who was fined by Wenger for a nightclub incident following the club's Champions League exit to Manchester United, has defended the Londoners. “He is not correct. His words don’t make any sense at all," he told Danish newspaper B.T.: "We could’ve performed better this season but we did reach the semi-final in the FA Cup and the Champions League. Further than his Inter side. “We scored as many goals as Manchester United and that shows what we are capable of. "And in the Premier League there’s so much competition because it’s the best league in the world. It’s clearly better than Zlatan's league, Serie A.” ARSENAL FANS!
