USA squad for Holland friendly

CHICAGO - Landon Donovan and DaMarcus Beasley were among 16 Europe-based players in a 20-man squad named on Thursday for the United States' World Cup warm-up against the Netherlands next week.

"This is a great opportunity for us to bring many of our European-based players together as we continue to finalise our plans for the World Cup roster," U.S. coach Bob Bradley said in a statement.

The March 3 friendly in Amsterdam will be the team's final tune-up before Bradley selects the squad he will take to the South Africa finals that start June 11.

Defender Frank Simek, who last appeared for the United States in 2007, and midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, one of the squad's youngest players at age 22, were also named.

Midfielders: DaMarcus Beasley (Rangers), Alejandro Bedoya (Orebro), Michael Bradley (Borussia Mnchengladbach), Landon Donovan (Everton), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Stuart Holden (Bolton Wanderers), Jos Torres (Pachuca).

Forwards: Jozy Altidore (Hull City), Robbie Findley (Real Salt Lake), Eddie Johnson (Aris Thessaloniki).
