Kaka: Ronaldo is afraid

Real Madrid midfielder Kaka has revealed that team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo is scared that Portugal may miss out on next year's World Cup finals.

The Brazilian has struck up an effective partnership, both on and off the pitch, with the FIFA World Player of the Year after they both joined the Bernabeu outfit this summer.

And the former AC Milan playmaker has admitted that Ronaldo is losing sleep thinking about the prospect of Portugal not making it through next month's play-offs.

“Cristiano is afraid of not going to the World Cup, like all Portuguese

," he said.

"After winning these two games, they have improved their situation and are able to go into the play-offs.”

Despite the former Manchester United star sitting out Wednesday's final qualifer against Malta through injury, his fellow countrymen still thrashed Malta 4-0, with ex-Old Trafford team-mate Nani's stunner opening the scoring.

They are now likely to face either Slovenia, Boznia-Herzegovena, Republic of Ireland or Ukraine over two legs for a place in next year's finals.
