Previews: Brandao doubtful for Monaco match

PARIS - Brief news from Ligue 1 before this weekend's matches:

Olympique Marseille striker Brandao could miss Sunday's home game against Monaco because of a groin injury, the club said on Friday.

"He is very doubtful for Sunday's game against Monaco. He picked up a groin injury and will undergo further tests," OM said on their website.

Monaco's Eidur Gudjohnsen, who joined from Barcelona during the close season, said he was surprised by the level of play in Ligue 1.

"It is very tactical and very physical, with well organised teams playing a lot on the break," the 31-year-old told L'Equipe on Friday.

St Etienne striker Boubacar Sanogo has been ruled out of his side's home game against Girondins Bordeaux because of a thigh injury, the club said on their website.

Paris St Germain will again be without Mevlut Erding when they host Nancy on Saturday because the Turkey striker has not fully recovered from a shoulder injury.

Stade Rennes will be without Swedish defender Peter Hansson in their home game against AJ Auxerre on Saturday as the skipper has not recovered from a calf injury, the Brittany club said on their website.
