Redknapp: King call-up 'mad' and 'pointless'

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp said calling up his injury-plagued captain Ledley King to England's squad for Saturday's friendly with Slovakia and next week's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine was "mad" and "pointless". King has a long-standing knee problem that limits his training and means he can play only one game a week. "I explained that but they have gone and picked him anyway. I can't see it myself, it's mad. It's pointless at best," Redknapp told The Sun.
