Australia recall big guns for double-header

SYDNEY - Australia have recalled their top European-based players for this month's friendly against the Netherlands and Asian Cup qualifier with Oman.

The Socceroos were beaten 3-1 by South Korea in a friendly in Seoul last month when most of their high-profile players were unavailable but they are taking no chances this time.

Harry Kewell, Tim Cahill and Lucas Neill have all been recalled to the 24-man squad along with Blackburn midfielder Brett Emerton, who makes his return to the side after undergoing knee reconstruction in January.

The squad also includes one new face, former Ireland under 17 and U-21 Shane Lowry was picked to make his debut after switching allegiances to Australia.

The Socceroos play the Netherlands in Sydney on October 10 before hosting Oman in Melbourne four days later.
