ROME - Lazio have blocked Argentine midfielder Cristian Ledesma's bid to free himself from his contract, the Rome club's lawyer said on Tuesday.
Ledesma, an Inter Milan target, has not played in Serie A this term after making a transfer request in the close season.
He was expected to win his battle to cancel his contract after Macedonia striker Goran Pandev prevailed in a similar case last month and went on to join Inter as a free agent.
However Lazio lawyer Gianmichele Gentile said this time an Italian Football League commission had ruled in the club's favour.
"Ledesma's petition has been declared inadmissible," Gentile was quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport's website.
"They have recognised Lazio acted correctly."
Lazio have struggled without Ledesma and Pandev and are 15th in Serie A, just two points above the relegation zone.comments
