Lehmann handed three-match ban

BERLIN - VfB Stuttgart goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has been given a three-match suspension for his red card in last week's league match against Mainz, the German Football Federation said on Wednesday.

Lehmann was sent off three minutes from time for pushing Mainz striker Aristide Bance after blocking a shot.

Mainz converted the penalty and drew 1-1, denying Stuttgart what could have been only their third league win this season.

Stuttgart fined the 40-year-old former Germany and Arsenal keeper 40,000 euros last week after making what the club said were derogatory remarks about their own fans.
