Lyon to play Saturday after appeal rejected

PARIS - Olympique Lyon's last-gap request to have their Ligue 1 game against Grenoble scheduled for Friday was turned down by the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF) on Thursday.

Lyon were seeking to overturn a decision by the French League (LFP) to switch the game for Saturday so Lyon and their Champions League quarter-final opponents Girondins Bordeaux, involved in Saturday's League Cup final against Olympique Marseille, played on the same day.

Lyon's appeal against the decision was rejected by the LFP on Wednesday and the former champions asked CNOSF to find a solution.

The French Olympic Committee judged it would be fair if both clubs played on Saturday.

"Olympique Lyon have decided to accept the decision made by the arbitrator named by CNOSF... and have decided to accept to play their game on Saturday at 4pm GMT," Lyon said in a statement.

Lyon host Bordeaux in a Champions League quarter-final first leg match on Tuesday.
