Mensah flattered by English interest

The 26-year-old centre-back is believed to be interesting both Sunderland and West Ham, according to the French media.

And although the Ghanaian international, who made just 12 league appearances for Lyon last season due to injury, says he welcomes reports tipping him to join the English top-flight, he insists he is focussed on having a more productive campaign with his current employers in 2009/10, should he remain in France.

"It is great to be linked to Premier League clubs," he told skysports.com

"My past season with Lyon was not good and I hated to be injured. But I am fit now and raring to go, either at Lyon or the Premier League.

"I am aware of the interest, but nothing is agreed yet, it was always an ambition to play in the Premier League, so let's wait and see."
