Messi eyes Mascherano & Fabregas arrivals
Barcelona star Lionel Messi says Premier League pair Javier Mascherano and Cesc Fabregas would be perfect additions to the Spanish treble winners' squad this summer.
Pep Guardiola's side became the first side to win the la Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League triumvirate in 2008/09, and have yet to add to their ranks ahead of the new campaign.
While arch rivals Real Madrid have been busy splashing more than €200 million on lavish signings including Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
The Nou Camp outfit have been linked with a string of stellar names to compliment their highly decorated ensemble of talent, including Franck Ribery, David Villa, Fabregas and Mascherano.
And Argentine sensation Messi believes the latter duo would be ideal acquisitions ahead of the 2009/10 season, providing stiff competition to central midfield stalwarts Xavi, Yaya Toure and Andres Iniesta.
"We were spectacular last season and we hope that this term, we will be able to do the same, or at least repeat a little of what we achieved," he told Sport.
"We were surprised by what we did last season but if players such as those who have been mentioned in the press arrive at the club to strengthen the team, it would be even better because it is important to be stronger.
"I hope Mascherano can come and we can form a solid partnership. His qualities are always appreciated.
