Wenger denies interest in Chamakh
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has denied reports that he is interested in signing Bordeaux starlet Marouane Chamakh.
The 25-year-old, who has earned 50 caps for Morocco scoring 15 goals, has netted 12 times in Ligue 1 this season.
Both Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland are believed to be chasing the highly-rated forward, while Chamakh himself recently admitted it would be difficult to turn down Spurs' arch rivals Arsenal should the Gunners come calling.
“I have heard about the Arsenal rumours. But my agent does not want to talk to me about them so that I stay focused until the end of the season," he told Aujourd’hui Sport.
“I want to play in the Premier League and a club like Arsenal would be a dream. If they were to come calling, I would certainly give them a positive answer. But there is nothing concrete at the moment.”
However, Wenger denied any interest in the front-man at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's final Premier League game of 2008/09 against Stoke City.
“Chamakh is a very good player but that does not mean I have called him,” he said.
