Previews: Montpellier coach demands improvement

Montpellier coach Rene Girard has asked his players to redeem themselves on Saturday against Nice after the third-placed side were crushed 4-0 at Monaco on Wednesday.

"We gave up in the second half. I hope some players have a mirror in their bathroom particularly those who lament they don't have enough playing time and don't even try to prove their worth when they are on the pitch," he told reporters.

Olympique Lyon hope the return to form of strikers Michel Bastos and Lisandro Lopez will fire them to victory in their first Ligue 1 match of the year at Nancy on Saturday.

Bastos scored twice in Lyon's win over Strasbourg in the French Cup last Saturday, and Lisandro hit a double in a victory against Metz in the League Cup on Wednesday.

After 19 games, Lyon are sixth in the Ligue standings, 13 points adrift of leaders Girondins Bordeaux.

Olympique Marseille are concentrating on recovery before Sunday's game at leaders Girondins Bordeaux after bad weather forced them to return by bus from Saint-Etienne where they won a League Cup game 3-2 through a last gasp goal.

"Sleeping is the main problem because we came back to Marseille at 0300 on Thursday," team doctor Christophe Baudot said.

"We have asked the players to try to have an eight or nine-hour sleep for the next two nights and the days will be devoted to balneotherapy, massages and stretching."

Paris Saint-Germain strikers Ludovic Giuly and Mevlut Erding are doubtful for the away clash at second-placed Lille on Saturday.

Coach Antoine Kombouare could welcome back striker Guillaume Hoareau after a groin injury.

PSG will look to bounce back after they were beaten in the League Cup by second division Guingamp in midweek.
