Red Devils keen to recruit Benzema

With Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo on their way out of Old Trafford, Benzema is believed to be a prime transfer target for Sir Alex Ferguson during the close-season as the Red Devils seek reinforcements.

The 21-year-old has netted 43 goals in 112 league outings for the Stade Gerland outfit, and is said to favour a move to Spain over England, despite reportedly being happy to stay at Lyon for another year.

The Ligue 1 club's director of communications, Olivier Blanc, told Marca on Thursday that the big-spending Bernabeu outfit had made an enquiry about the striker.

However, the Premier League champions are also keen on recruiting the marksman this summer to bolster their forward line, according to Benzema's agent Karim Djaziri.

"Ferguson wants Karim this summer, however his transfer fee will not be over 40million euros," he told Europe1.

"He is only 21-years-old, the only time a transfer of a 21-year-old went so high it was the Robinho transfer to Real Madrid.

"Karim can't be more valued than David Villa, who will cost more than 40million euros.

"The question is not if he will sign for one of the big clubs, but when."
