Chamakh chooses to stay at Bordeaux

The 25-year-old, who has earned 50 caps for Morocco scoring 15 goals, netted 13 times in Ligue 1 to help secure a first league crown in 10 years for les Girondins.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland were all believed to be chasing the highly-rated forward, with Chamakh himself recently admitting he would be leaving Bordeaux at the end of the season, with the Emirates Stadium a possible destination.

However, the striker has now revealed that he has changed his mind after the weekend celebarations, and is instead looking forward to leading the side in the Champions League next season.

"I will stay here next season, I want to be part of the club," he told skysports.com.

"I like the team spirit here. It is true I wanted to leave and I want to realise my dream of playing in the Premier League, but I owe something back to Bordeaux.

"I will stay next season. I want to be part of this great team and we are looking forward to next year's Champions League."
