Johnson pleased with perfect night
Liverpool defender Glen Johnson hailed his Anfield debut as the 'perfect night' after helping the Reds beat Stoke City 4-0 on Wednesday.
Following the disappointment of their opening day defeat at Tottenham Hotspur, Rafael Benitez's side bounced back in style against the Potters, with goals from Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt and David Ngog adding to Johnson's acrobatic over-head kick shortly before half-time.
"I'm over the moon. It was great to run out at Anfield, and to get the three points and keep a clean sheet made it a perfect night for me - to score a goal made it even better," he told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"Obviously it was brilliant to score my first for Liverpool and to do it on my home debut was amazing, but the win was more important to get us out of the starting blocks."
The 24-year-old England international, who moved to Merseyside from Portsmouth for £18 million this summer, has adapted to life in a Liverpool shirt with ease.
And the former West Ham and Chelsea full-back has credited the warm welcome he has received since his arrival from the south coast as the reason behind his solid start to the new season.
"It's been absolutely brilliant since I arrived here. The lads and everyone at the club have been fantastic," he said.
"It's been great for me to settle in here quickly, and I think that has showed in my performances already, so I'm delighted."
