Redknapp quashes Cisse claims
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has dismissed claims he is chasing the signature of on-loan Sunderland striker Djibril Cissé. The former Liverpool forward has netted 10 league goals in 34 appearances for the Black Cats since arriving on loan from Marseille last summer.
Cissé's agent, Ranko Stojic, had said the player will leave the Stadium of Light at the end of the season and return to Marseille before joining Spurs on a season-long loan.
"Djibril will not remain at Sunderland after the season has finished," he said. "We have an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for Djibril to sign a 12-month contract. He will sign for Tottenham."
But Redknapp has moved to quickly quash these claims.
"We haven't made any inquiries for anybody at the moment," he told Sky Sports.
"The squad has done very well, but I still feel we need to strengthen in one or two areas as a group if we are to look to push on and try to make sure we are a top-six team.
"If we can't get the players we want then it's not a desperate situation because we have lots of good players at the club."
