Beitar show Shum the door

JERUSALEM - Faltering Israeli Premier League side Beitar Jerusalem sacked coach Yitzhak Shum after a 3-2 defeat by Hapoel Haifa on Saturday, the club said.

The club, who are seventh in the league and 31 points behind leaders Maccabi Haifa, named Shum's deputy David Amsalem as his replacement.

Beitar are one of Israel's biggest clubs but the management have often heeded calls from unhappy fans for changes and Amsalem is Beitar's 11th coaching appointment in the last 10 years.
