Gilardino sees suspension shortened

MILAN - Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino will be available for their Champions League Group E clash at Hungary's Debrecen on October 20 after UEFA halved his two-match suspension, the Serie A club said on Monday.

The Italy forward missed last week's 2-0 win over Liverpool, when his replacement Stevan Jovetic scored twice, after being sent off for an elbow in their opening defeat at Olympique Lyon.

He was due to be banned for the Hungary trip as well but the club said in a statement UEFA had partially upheld his appeal.
