Hajnal out with ankle ligament injury

BERLIN - Borussia Dortmund midfielder Tamas Hajnal will be out for much of the Bundesliga first round after he was diagnosed with a torn ankle ligament, the club said on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old Hungary international is suspected of picking up the injury on October 3 in a Bundesliga match against Borussia Moenchengladbach but was only diagnosed after returning from international duty last week.

The club, which has had a disappointing start to the season, said it had not yet been decided whether surgery is needed.

"In any case he will be out of the team for some considerable time," Dortmund, in 12th place, said on their website.
