PARIS - Claude Makelele will play one more year with Paris St Germain, the former France midfielder said.
"I'm staying because chairman Sebastien Bazin assured me the future coach was relying on me," the 36-year-old said in an interview to be published on Saturday by the weekly L'Equipe Magazine.
"I shall probably stay on the pitch for one more year. Afterwards, I would like to work for the club, at the disposal of the chairman, the manager and the coach", the former Chelsea player added.
"I'm interested in recruiting and I think my network, my charisma and my credit as a player could help the club."
Makelele joined Paris St Germain last July on a free transfer from Chelsea. The French club will have a new coach next season as Bazin decided against renewing the contract of Paul Le Guen.
French media have tipped Antoine Kombouare, a former PSG player who is now coaching Valenciennes, to take over.comments
