Eusebio distances himself from Barcelona links
Luis Enrique's confirmation that he will leave Barcelona has prompted potential replacements to respond. Eusebio Sacristan had his say.
Eusebio Sacristan insists he is focused 100 per cent on Real Sociedad, despite being installed as an early favourite to replace Luis Enrique at Barcelona.
Following Wednesday's 6-1 win over Sporting Gijon, which took Barca top of LaLiga, Luis Enrique confirmed that he will not renew his deal at Camp Nou when it expires at the end of the season.
Eusebio, like Luis Enrique and Pep Guardiola before him, has managed Barcelona B and he was part of Johan Cruyff's side that won the European Cup in 1992.
However, having led Real Sociedad to the fringes of the fight for Champions League qualification, Eusebio says he will resist any advances from Catalonia.
"I congratulate Luis Enrique for the work he has done in Barca, which has been very good, the mentality he has instilled and the titles he has won," Eusebio told a news conference.
"When he finishes, it will be clear that Barca have had a great coach.
"I have nothing more to say than what I had to say when I renewed my contact with Real.
