Fancy entering Neymar Jr's Five tournament? Step this way...
Win a place at Neymar Jr and Red Bull's Five World finals in Brazil by entering your team into one of 13 five-a-side tournaments across the UK
Do you think you play for the best five-a-side team in the UK? How about the world? If you do, it’s time for you to prove it by entering Neymar and Red Bull’s Five tournament.
Last year, more than 10,000 teams across 47 countries battled it out in regional and national tournaments to win a place at Neymar’s Five World Finals and an all-expenses paid trip to the Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr, in Praia Grande, Brazil.
Neymar and Red Bull are now inviting players aged 16 to 25 to compete in this year’s tournament – though two players over that age limit can now be added to each seven-man squad.
The UK qualifying events will be held in 13 cities, including Birmingham, Manchester and London. The winning team from each area will then head to Newcastle on April 22 to compete in the UK national final.
Neymar’s Five provides a unique challenge – every time one team scores, the opposition loses a player. It’s inspired by the street football Neymar played himself.
“I always played with my friends, using small goals," he said. "The tournament reminds me of my childhood and I’m very proud of it. To win five-a-side games, you need strategy and a good understanding of when to attack and defend. A good defence is very important as well and can take your team very far in the tournament."
Interested? Teams of five to seven players can sign up now via www.neymarjrsfive.com – but hurry, registration closes on March 13.
