Asmir Begovic: How to make it pro
Stand out from the crowd - among the pros with advice from Chelsea's Bosnian goalkeeper
Goalkeeping is sometimes a difficult position to stand out in. Unlike, say, midfielders - who are guaranteed the chance to show off their passing or tackling technique in every match – you can have a game where you’re called on to do very little, and may only face a couple of unstoppable chances.
How, then, can you distinguish yourself from the crowd at the top level? One man who has done just that is Chelsea’s Asmir Begovic, and he explains to us what he thinks are the key assets of a top stopper.
From mental strength to sound basic technique – and why young keepers should guard against trying to be too flashy, or something they’re not – he details the best way to make it as a pro.
