Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is monitoring the progress of Ajax youngster Gregory van der Wiel, according to reports.
The 21-year-old full-back has made more than 50 league appearances for the Amsterdam giants since breaking onto the first-team scene in 2006, scoring three goals.
And the starlet's rapid progress has already seen him earn international honours, winning four further caps for Holland after making his debut against Tunisia in February 2009.
As a result, Van der Wiel is attracting interest from several European high-fliers, including Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.
And, according to the Daily Mirror, Emirates Stadium supremo Wenger has sent scouts to watch the prodigy in action, with a view to pairing him in the same back-four as ex-Ajax skipper Thomas Vermaelen in the not-too-distant future.
The report claims that Van der Wiel's services are currently valued at around £7 million.comments
