RIO DE JANEIRO - Tottenham Hotspur reached an agreement with Internacional on Monday to sign their international defensive midfielder Sandro for next season, the Brazilian club said.
"Internacional and Tottenham signed this Monday the terms of an option for the sale of midfielder Sandro to the English club," Inter said on their website.
The 21-year-old, who earned one cap as a substitute against Chile in a World Cup qualifier last September, left for London on Monday for medical tests though media reports in Porto Alegre said he would not join the Harry Redknapp's side until August.
Sandro's arrival at White Hart Lane could be delayed depending on Inter's progress in the Copa Libertadores - South America's equivalent to the Champions League.
This year's competition is due to end on August 18, meaning the Samba star could miss both pre-season and the start of the 2010/11 Premier League campaign for Spurs should Inter reach the latter stages.
