Bischoff explains Arsenal exit

Released Arsenal midfielder Amaury Bischoff has revealed the reasons behind his exit from the Emirates Stadium after only one season.

The 22-year-old parted company with the Gunners on Tuesday along with seven other starlets, having made just one league, one FA Cup and two League Cup appearances for the club in 2008/09.

Manager Arsene Wenger admitted at the time of his signing that he was taking a 'gamble on talent' following the youngster's injury record.

And, unfortunately for the Frenchman, his gamble backfired, with Bischoff revealing that both he and Wenger had agreed that the starlet's stay in North London should be ended prematurely.

“[Wenger] could not guarantee me playing time next season," Bischoff told L'Equipe.

"So we decided together that it was best that I did not extend [the contract]."
