Everton made hard work of dispatching League Two Salford 3-0 in the Carabao Cup but another injury to a centre-back left manager Carlo Ancelotti with a headache.

Michael Keane, Gylfi Sigurdsson and a late Moise Kean penalty set up a third-round tie at Fleetwood but teenager Jarrad Branthwaite limping off with a first-half ankle injury left the Toffees with just two fit senior centre-halves.
