Kilmarnock manager staying grounded
Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio claims it is not important where they are in the table right now.
The Rugby Park outfit moved into third in the Ladbrokes Premiership after securing a 1-0 over St Mirren on Saturday and can extend their lead when they face Motherwell at Fir Park on Wednesday.
Kilmarnock have suffered just one defeat in their last eight league games, winning five of those, but Alessio is not getting carried away by where they are in the league.
Alessio said: “It’s pleasing to be in third place, I’m happy but, at the same time, I know at this moment our position in the table is not important to me.
“This is a good reward for everyone here, it means we work very hard and concentrate in every game and give our best.
“It’s important for our confidence but it is important to pick up points in every game because the season is long and it’s more important where we finish at the end of the season.
“Now it is important to add points in every game. The position of third or fourth is not important now.”

Alessio believes there is still more to come from his side.
He said: “We have to improve because we are a compact team and good in defence but I want to improve in attack in terms of scoring goals.
“We work for this and I hope in the future to see this.”
FourFourTwo was launched in 1994 on the back of a World Cup that England hadn’t even qualified for. It was an act of madness… but it somehow worked out. Our mission is to offer our intelligent, international audience access to the game’s biggest names, insightful analysis... and a bit of a giggle. We unashamedly love this game and we hope that our coverage reflects that.
