Sporting Lisbon star Miguel Veloso says he does not regret declaring his desire to one day leave the club, despite the uproar his comments have caused in the Portuguese capital.
The 23-year-old, who has been capped seven times by his country, has been linked with a string of Premier League sides, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Everton and Bolton.
And after announcing he would be interested in a move abroad to further his career, Sporting fans reacted angrily, booing the player on a regular basis and daubing unsavoury graffiti at the club's training ground.
However, Veloso insists he has not been affected by the hostile reception of the fans, and continues to dream of a high-profile transfer ahead of the new season.
"I think what has been said of me is not correct, maybe they wanted to make me a scapegoat," he said.
"A lot of people have said the same and I only gave my opinion that I have the dream of playing abroad.
"I do not regret anything of what I said."comments
