RENNES - Japan midfielder Junichi Inamoto has joined Stade Rennes from German club Eintracht Frankfurt as a free agent, the Ligue 1 side said on Friday.
The 29-year-old has signed a two-year contract, the club said on their website.
He started his professional career under new Stade Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti while both men were at Gamba Osaka in Japan.
The Japanese international, who has featured 71 times for his country scoring four times, made more than 100 league appearances for Osaka from 1997-2004.
Inamoto spent a season on loan at Arsenal in 2001/02, featuring in the League Cup for the Gunners, before joining Fulham where he netted in a shock 3-1 win for the Cottagers against Manchester United at Old Trafford in 2003.
He has also spent time at West Brom, Cardiff and Galatasaray before spending the last two seasons with Frankfurt, where he made 37 league outings.comments
