Valdes extends Barcelona contract

MADRID - Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has agreed a four-year contract extension through June 2014 with improved conditions, the Primera Liga and European champions said on Tuesday.

The buyout clause for the 27-year-old, who helped Barcelona to a treble of Spanish league, European Champions League and King's Cup last season, has been raised to 150 million euros from 100 million, the club said on their website.

The gloveman had been linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester United, who themselves have tied goalkeeper Ben Foster to a new four-year deal at Old Trafford.
