Arshavin set for Premier League debut

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed new signing Andrei Arshavin is set to make his Gunners debut against Sunderland at the weekend. The Russian international finally joined the north London outfit for £15 million at the end of the winter transfer window, concluding one of the longest running transfer sagas in Premier League history. And after being an unused substitute in the goalless draw with Tottenham and sitting out Monday's 4-0 FA Cup win over Cardiff City due to being ineligible, the former Zenit St Petersburg playmaker is expected to play some part against Ricky Sbragia's side at the Emirates on Saturday. “He will be involved,” Wenger told the club’s official website. “But I have not decided what I will do with him yet. “He is still working on preparation and he is not qualified for the game against Roma so we can give him another week of hard work. "At the end of next week, that will be three weeks with us and one week with Zenit, that should be enough.”
