Barry enters talks with Manchester City
Aston Villa have confirmed that midfielder Gareth Barry is in talks with Manchester City over a potential summer transfer. The England international has long been linked with a move away from Villa Park in order to play Champions League football.
The 28-year-old appeared set to seal a deal to Liverpool 12 months ago, only for the move to fall through with the Reds disagreeing over Villa's £18 million valuation of the player.
The former Brighton youngster has also been touted as a possible Arsenal signing during the close season, becoming one of the experienced heads Gunners' fans are desperate to see manager Arsene Wenger recruit to compliment his vast array of talented youngsters.
However, despite Mark Hughes' Blues failing to qualify for Europe next season, the Eastlands outfit have ambitious aspirations of forcing their way into the Big Four, bankrolled by the wealthy Sheikh Mansour following his arrival last summer.
