Jovetic shrugs off United link
Fiorentina starlet Stevan Jovetic insists he will not be leaving the club anytime soon, amid speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United. The 19-year-old has netted seven league goals in 36 appearances for la Viola since arriving from Partizan in 2008, and has already made 11 outings for Montenegro, scoring six times.
But he shot to instant stardom in the club's recent Champions League clash with Liverpool, bagging both goals in a 2-0 victory over Rafael Benitez's charge, having only been drafted into the starting line-up against the five-time European Cup winners due to Alberto Gilardino's suspension.
Reports were quick to link the 'Montenegrin Messi' with a move to Old Trafford, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Juventus and Bayern Munich also tipped to sign the player.
However, the youngster has been quick to play down talk of him leaving the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
“I have a five-year contract and I'm very well in Florence,” he told Blic.
“I've heard rumours about Manchester, but I am absolutely not thinking about leaving.
“Fiorentina are third in the league and if we beat Lazio we would have been top.”
Jovetic also reflected on his influential display against Liverpool, revealing that both the result and his personal performance have yet to sink in.
“Beating Liverpool was surreal. I'm still dreaming,” he said.
“I am convinced the victory against Liverpool will be remembered for a long time.
“Now we have an advantage over Liverpool, but there are still four games to play.”
