Lewandowski backs Muller to rediscover form
Robert Lewandowski has backed his Bayern Munich team-mate Thomas Muller to overcome his recent struggles sooner rather than later.
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is confident Thomas Muller will soon rediscover his best form.
The Germany international endured an underwhelming first half of the season in which he scored just one goal in 13 Bundesliga outings.
Muller's form failed to improve on Bayern's return from the mid-season break as he put in an unimpressive performance in their hard-fought 2-1 win over Freiburg last week.
Lewandowski sees no reason for concern, though, and has backed his team-mate to find back his scoring boots sooner rather than later.
"You do not lose your goal [scoring] instinct. It simply does not work that way. He is just going through a phase where he is lacking a bit of luck. But he will soon rediscover his form," the Poland international told Munchner Merkur.
"Everybody expects Thomas to score at least 20 goals, but we should still be satisfied with what he has been doing. You cannot judge him solely on his goals. He is always working hard and when you do that, the goals will come eventually.
"It is important for a striker not too think about things too much. That never works. You always have to think about the next game and about scoring a goal again."
