The 1.92-metre (6-foot-2) Guillaume Hoarau, 24, and the 1.64-metre (5-foot-4) Ludovic Giuly have combined to score five goals since the diminutive 32-year-old former Barcelona and AS Roma winger moved up front.
The partnership has helped PSG win their last three Ligue 1 games including a 1-0 victory over leaders Olympique Lyon last weekend.
"I think we complement each other quite well," Giuly told reporters.
"He is tall. He heads many balls and attracts defenders' attention and creates space for me."
PSG are fifth with 26 points from 15 games, seven points behind champions Lyon and two adrift of second-placed Nice who host promoted Grenoble on Saturday.
The Parisian club can now consider themselves title candidates after narrowly escaping relegation the last two seasons.
NO REVENGE
"We are switching to the good part of the table but we are still looking below us," said midfielder Jerome Rothen.
"That's natural after the last two seasons but we can look above us as well now."
Rennes are in the middle of an even better run of form, having climbed to fourth after a 13-game unbeaten streak.
Coach Guy Lacombe played down any suggestion of a revenge mission after the two teams were involved in a row in the close season when PSG tried to sign forward Jimmy Briand.
"There are only three points at stake," said Lacombe, who was sacked by PSG nearly two years ago.
Lyon entertain second-bottom Valenciennes on Saturday after securing a berth in the knockout stage of the Champions League with a 2-1 win at Fiorentina on Tuesday.
Olympique Marseille, third on 27 points, also turn their minds to domestic duties after being eliminated from the Champions League following a 1-0 defeat at Liverpool on Wednesday.
Marseille visit Toulouse on Sunday.
