Manchester United face a daunting trip to last season’s Champions League runners-up PSG on the opening day of their European campaign.
The French champions knocked out Borussia Dortmund, Atalanta and RB Leipzig on their way to the final in August, before succumbing to Bayern Munich in a 1-0 defeat.
The clash at the Parc des Princes is likely to be the toughest test Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side face in a difficult Group H, which also includes Leipzig and Istanbul Basaksehir.
But the Norwegian has enjoyed success in the French capital in the past, overseeing a 3-1 victory in the last 16 of the 2018/19 competition, which saw United knock out PSG on away goals after losing 2-0 at Old Trafford in the first leg.
United have had a difficult start to the season, and came in for fierce criticism after a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur before the international break.
However, a 4-1 win at Newcastle on Saturday relieved some of the pressure and will ensure they travel to France on a high.
PSG boast a formidable record at home in the group stage, though, having gone 24 games without defeat in Paris, a run stretching back to December 2004.
PSG’s all-time top scorer Edinson Cavani could make his United debut against his former club, having joined the Premier League side on a free transfer in the summer after his deal in France expired.
However, the Uruguay international hasn’t played a competitive game since March and is likely to be on the bench.
Mason Greenwood is an injury doubt for the visitors, but deadline day signing Alex Telles could make his United debut.
Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are both set to start for Thomas Tuchel’s side, but the German boss can’t call on the injured Mauro Icardi, Juan Bernat or Thilo Kehrer.
Marquinhos, Marco Verratti, Julian Draxler and Danilo Pereira are fitness doubts, but Angel Di Maria is available after a suspension to feature against his former employers.
