Subotic expresses desire to stay

Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic - linked with moves to Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Everton since the summer - has played down talk of him leaving Germany anytime soon. The centre-back has made over 40 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit since joining in 2008.

And the Serbian international has recently played a starring role in his country's qualification for next year's World Cup finals.

As a result, Subotic has been strongly linked with a big-money move to the Premier League, with Mark Hughes' Manchester City the latest name added to a growing list.

But the highly-rated defender has expressed his desire to stay with Dortmund for the foreseeable future.

“Of course it is very flattering to hear that a big team such as Manchester City are interested in securing my services. They are so rich that they could probably buy whoever they want,” he told Bild.

“However, I recently extended my contract at Borussia Dortmund until 2014 and I’m not planning to leave the club already. I feel very well in Dortmund, both on and off the pitch.

“Additionally, I have the ambition to achieve something with the club. Head coach Jurgen Klopp brought me here from Mainz and I owe it to him to stay at Borussia for now.”
