Christine Sinclair clinches Canadian victory over England in Manchester

England Women were beaten in the first of their four ‘Road to France Series’ World Cup warm-up matches as a late Christine Sinclair goal condemned them to a 1-0 defeat to Canada.

Canada captain Sinclair converted on the follow-up in the 81st minute of action at the Academy Stadium in Manchester, after Nichelle Prince’s shot had hit the bar, the 35-year-old registering her 180th international goal.

FourFourTwo Staff

FourFourTwo was launched in 1994 on the back of a World Cup that England hadn’t even qualified for. It was an act of madness… but it somehow worked out. Our mission is to offer our intelligent, international audience access to the game’s biggest names, insightful analysis... and a bit of a giggle. We unashamedly love this game and we hope that our coverage reflects that.
